Painting Parties

(Not my image. Found randomly on internet.)

I have always loved painting. Water colors, acrylics, even oil painting once (Bob Ross lessons).

These days, painting parties are all the rage! Most of them are of the "paint and sip" variety and involve alcohol. I personally don't like restricting who can come to my paint parties. I conduct mine at a locally owned coffee shop! This way anyone from 14 to 80 can come and enjoy an afternoon of painting.

There was one point in time I had considered going to school to be an art teacher. I was afraid I'd end up being the "let me do it, you're doing it wrong!" kind of teacher, so it never happened. I have thankfully learned how to instruct people on how to paint though!

I started my paint parties November 2015 after my sister told me about one our office had taken her to. I thought, "This is so simple, why hadn't I thought of doing this?! I'm totally going to do this myself!" So I did. I even started a Facebook group to share our results and invite people to join in.

So far I've have one painting per month. There were a couple slow months this winter, but we are getting better advertising now, so hopefully things will pick up! I'm actually planning a second one for this month as I type this (March 2016). Below are pictures from all my previous lessons.

McHaffie Family

Lovely windy autumn family photos with the McHaffie family.

Even the dogs got to join us!

Senior pictures done in November for this young man.

I'm really enjoying doing Senior sessions. The kids have been great to work with and so have their mothers! When you're working with only two people at a time, you get to "play" more. Using different angles and locations. I really hope to do more small sessions in the future.

Time flies

Wow, has it been so long? It's been several months since I last posted anything. Busy with the Holidays, being sick, and doing painting parties!

In November I started doing painting parties. I pick a painting to instruct while my "students" follow and sip coffee. I know most people do these parties with wine, but I'd rather not worry about serving alchohol and I like that people under 21 can attend. Teenagers and Twenty year old's like to paint too!
We have painted I Whimsical Tree, Snowman and Cardinal, Peacock Feather, and a Heart Tree. In March we will be doing a Cottage Landscape that I designed.

I also did a young mans Senior photo shoot in early December. I'll work on posting those soon I hope. There are other winter shots I took that I need to go through as well. We had a beautiful frost one day that I was lucky enough to capture.  I also have some fun ornaments and paintings I did that I need to write a post for. I've been such a slacker!

This year hasn't been the kindest to me though. I dealt with a sinus infection around Christmas, which I managed to remedy using my Young Living Oils! Rather happy I decided to sign up with them. I'd take natural oils over antibiotics any day! I was hit with Strep in January, had to go to the doc for that one. I never get any warning with Step and it kicks my butt. As I type this, I'm fighting some sort of resperatory issue. It consists of an annoying cough but not much else luckily.
My husband also about caught the house on fire! It was both of our faults really. I had stuff on the stove that shouldn't have been there and he didn't pay attention and turned on the wrong burner.
Those silly glass rocks that are glued to our cupboards is what brought the fire to our attention. I'm so glad he actually heard them dropping! He's usually oblivious to sounds in the kitchen. Ten seconds later and it could have been much much worse! All is well, but the two burners that are left on the stove don't work quite right anymore.

On a positive note, we're going to Ireland in June!!!
I'm so excited. I've only been as foreign as Canada, so this is going to be quite the adventure.
I have our itinerary and need to plan out exactly where to go and what to see along our path. We booked with Sceptre tours, so we have a nice self guided tour. It inlcudes entrance to certain historical places and four hotel rooms to stay in across the country. It's going to be so nice!
I'm trying to brush up on my Irish history and lore in the meantime. There will definitely be tons of pictures taken!

I hope to get back into the swing of things and post about once a month at least. Possibly more depending on what projects I get into or how busy I am.

Thank you for stopping by!

50' s Family Style

Quick fall 50's ish family photo shoot! It sure is tough to wrangle this many kids for a shoot. The 3 youngest were actually the most cooperative!
In this family, everyone is assigned their own color for every group photo. Kinda genius really, no fighting over who gets to wear what!
Photos were taken at Kovick Kountry Farms. If you're a local, go swing by!

Spent a lovely afternoon working with this cute lil family!
Their lil girl is so lovely and happy. This is one kid I don't mind hanging out with!
